Polymarket Data Paths: Public Reads, Order Books and On-chain Events
Choose a data path by the entity and action you need, not by treating every API as interchangeable. The Polymarket Data API documents positions and activity; CLOB documents order books and separate signed trading actions; Goldsky documents v2 on-chain event pipelines. None of these services was called with credentials or tested by Polytoolhub.
Choose a data provider for your question
A public read may avoid a trading credential, but API access and field definitions still need verification for the exact request. CLOB read-only market books do not imply permission to submit orders. Goldsky requires its own project, CLI and sink; its documentation warns that legacy public subgraphs are incomplete after the April 28 v2 migration.
Selection is not a price or reliability ranking
Service uptime, credentials, entitlement, rate limits, complete historical coverage, licensing for downstream use and total costs remain provider-specific checks. Unknown prices are displayed as unknown, not interpreted as free.
Selection criteria
Include a distinct documented Polymarket data task with a reviewed primary source, stable useful profile and stated access limitation; separate public reads, signed CLOB actions and independently hosted on-chain pipelines. Order is by task, not quality, fees or sponsorship.
Included profiles
Goldsky
Why included: Vendor-documented v2 on-chain order fills, matches, balances and position datasets for operator-owned pipelines.
Limitation: Needs a Goldsky account, CLI and sink; legacy subgraphs are incomplete, fees and actual pipeline output were not tested.
Polymarket CLOB API
Why included: Official order-book and price surface, with private order actions requiring separate wallet and API-credential signatures.
Limitation: No authenticated CLOB request, order or revocation was performed; read access is not trading permission.
Polymarket Data API
Why included: Official positions and activity read surface, separate from the order-management CLOB.
Limitation: Document access does not establish current response, entitlement, dataset retention or an API-specific price.
Exclusions
- Struct's Polymarket APIs and Explorer have an announced September 30 shutdown; the reserved draft profile is not a current integration recommendation.
- Builder Leaderboard and CLOB market/user channels remain components of the existing API offerings, not extra independent tools.
- External event feeds are a different family and require market-rule mapping, licensing and separate provider review.
